Rue des Barres is a little cobblestone street very near Île Saint-Louis. It’s charming and it has a few nice shops. The church you see up the street is the St-Gervais-et-St-Protais Church that, according to Wikipedia, has a very good french baroque style organ. I must check it out one of these days.
Last weekend some friends and I went to “Pâtisserie des Rêves” (literally, “Dream Pastries”) to have some french pastries and tea. I loved it. My life long love of baked goods tells me that I need to go back again.
I like the way the passerby just mashed with the background. I chose to use a high contrast black and white to give it a more “street” feel.
This was taken in Place de la Bastille in the beginning of Boulevard Richard Lenoir.
I love the metro because it always gives wonderful opportunities to be creative and see things in a different way. By using the ever changing publicity posters and the movement of the train I try to capture the banal in a new point of view.
This little girl was restless. The metro was taking too long to get to her destination and she was looking everywhere for entertainment. She was a bit bored.
This photo is part of my “Strangers in the Metro” series. You can see all the photos here.
I love the way reflections work so well on giving us a surreal feeling. Normal everyday life can look shiny and bright though a reflection.
Have a great week!
This photo shows a fairly typical Parisian café sign typography.
I took this one while walking around the 18th arrondissement between metro Pigalle and Blanche.
My brother was in town last week and we went all the way up the Eiffel Tower. The weather was horrible and we got soaking wet but I managed to get some nice views of Paris. Granted, a little touristy but I love it anyway.
In this view you can see South West Paris, the Seine river and some of the bridges. In the tip of the island on the river you can spot a replica of the Statue of Liberty. More on that subject in a few days.
